Glioma and Cellphone Use

Last night, I attended a talk by Dr. Rod E. Joson at Club Filipino on the topic "Preventive Medicine."

Another reason to keep the cellphone away from kids?

One of the slides that caught my attention-- which I was able to get a copy of -- was about the risk of using wireless communication devices otherwise known as mobile phones.

The electromagnetic fields emitted by  these devices have been classified as possibly carcinogenic to humans. Use of wireless devices has been associated with the increase risk of glioma-- a type of brain cancer.  Please read  below a recent   press release from the World Health Organization.

As there is an apparently  compelling reason to keep cellphones away from our heads,  I foresee a jump in demand for hands-free headsets anytime soon.

Great info. Any idea if other wireless devices also have the same impact? Let's say the wireless routers we have at home. We're virtually surrounded by its signal 24x7, not counting our neighbor's.
