I woke up this Sunday morning to another "alarming" piece of news about the Philippine Catholic Church:
"Bishop who got PCSO funds was a top Ayala stockholder."
Please click on this link for the report filed by JM Tuazon of GMA News
In this news report, columnist and staunch Reproductive Health Bill advocate Elizabeth Angsioco received a lot of space and airtime about her research on the investments of the Catholic Church. She even got the parting shot in the video saying "Sana tumulong pa sila" (as if she knew what "enough help" by the church means.)
Sad to see that the headline referred to Archbishop Diosdado Talamayan of Tuguegarao, yet his side was not mentioned either in the write-up or in the video news report.
We can expect to find the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) to be in the news for another week or two, this time on the issue on investments. I just hope that this new thread will not serve as a diversion from the probe on PCSO funds.
And while we are at it, perhaps the newspapers and broadcast networks can also do research on the source of funds for Reproductive Health Bill advocates.
